T-shirt printing ideas
T-shirt printing is one of the latest fads that it seems almost anyone can do. All you need is a blank t-shirt, a design that you will be proud to wear, a computer with printer attached, some transfer paper and an iron. That's it! Gone are the days when t-shirts and custom clothing cost as much as the designer brands, you can make yourself dirt cheap, bespoke t-shirt to your liking and your styles for relatively small costs.
Custom made t-shirt prints were all the range in the 1960's when tie-dying was popular among the youth generation, but this created t-shirts that looked very samey even though they were one-offs, also the patterns created could not be adjusted or modified to suit the user. Tie-dying really is giving you what you'd expect.
A good idea for a t-shirt design is to use big and bold text to create a slogan or a message that could be witty or thought provoking. I personally don't recommend using offensive or upsetting statements on your shirts as I am one who doesn't enjoy upsetting people by wearing offensive clothing. Screen printing pictures and text are always good to put on your t-shirts as they are still eye catching and different, especially promotional clothing or hen night t-shirts and stag night t shirts.
There are many other methods that can be used for your personalised clothing and all of them give different results. Some are more suited to the larger businesses who can afford to make some mass produced embroidered clothing. In contrast there are other methods that are more suited for a smaller company who is only 10 custom stag night t-shirts or hen night t shirts, will see more of a need to produce only a handful of shirts/designs. Other methods are better for the one off designs too, and this will take us back to our original paragraph.
To create your own custom t-shirt you should already have a blank t-shirt ready to go (please note that a light colour shirt will work better for this type of printing, so think white colours or pale blues, greens etc). The next thing you need is an idea of what it is you want on your shirt and how you want it to look. Remember that with design, less is more. Keep your design simple so that it is easily read and can appeal to all. Next you will want to print this design onto speacial t-shirt printing transfer paper (please note that there is only one side you will be able to print on in order for it to work). Once your printed clothing has been printed, you will need to allow it to dry before you begin transferring the print to your shirt. I'm sure the transfer paper will come with lots of instructions but the main jist of the transfer process is that you put your design flat on your shirt and using heat (usually in the form of a hot iron) move over the print to transfer it to the shirt. The last step is to let the shirt cool and wear it with pride! |
